A dodgy hypnotherapist who specialises in erasing bad memories must uncover her own forgotten past after a diligent policewoman reopens an investigation. The mismatched women are forced on a quest to discover the truth.

SYNOPSIS

Imagine this: your most painful memory. Picture it. Not a lot of fun, is it? But what if I told you there was a way to get rid of it. Would you?

Larissa, a dodgy hypnotherapist, would not hesitate one second. She’ll unscrupulously erase your memories dealing with grief, a bad date or weird childhood incidents. You’ll feel much lighter afterwards, a brand-new person but a few hundred euros poorer. Larissa has an endless mountain of debt haunting her and is always hustling for new clients in bars to make her business as profitable as possible. That is, until Edith, a diligent police inspector, reopens a case related to Larissa’s high school friend Gloria, who drowned in a lake under suspicious circumstances. Edith hopes to get her well-deserved promotion while competing against a suck-up colleague.

Edith questions Larissa, but Larissa’s memory seems partially wiped. And worst of all, Larissa gets teased by random flashbacks and blackouts which keep her from doing her job properly. Larissa needs to figure out what is happening to her. Slightly reluctantly, Larissa teams up with Edith. Both women set out on a quest to Larissa’s hometown to find out what really happened to Gloria. Larissa must gather the courage to face her past …

The problem with memories is that they always come back to haunt you. »Goldfish« is a quirky crime-drama exploring memory, identity and eventually the big question: how do we let go?
