The animated documentary - a mixture of live-action footage and animation - chronicles the brutal daily life in the orphanages of the 60s/70s.

In many cases run by Christian orders, over a million children were mentally and physically abused here. The anonymous protagonist tells of her childhood and her very personal struggle against the arbitrariness of the nuns and their merciless authority.
