Calls from Home

Vision statement

"Calls from Home" is a 360 VR documentary about two students at the High School of Music in Cologne who find themselves physically and emotionally estranged from home. The war between Russia and Ukraine deeply affected them on a personal level, and through the immersive 360 format, viewers become invisible observers of their lives, witnessing intimate moments such as playing musical instruments and making phone calls to their relatives.

Synopsis

Elisey, a flutist from Russia, and Katya, a percussionist from Ukraine, study together at the Higher School of Music and Dance in Cologne. Brought by the harsh realities of war, they forge a close friendship despite the ongoing conflict between their home countries. Committed to their musical aspirations, they devote entire days to practise, ensconced in the conservatory's confined rehearsal spaces, each striving to become a professional musician. After a long day of practising, they both receive calls from their relatives who remain in their conflict-ridden homelands. These conversations bring them back to a reality they wish they could forget soon.…
