More than 40 years ago, Mboro receives an order to find the head of the Tanzanian resistance fighter Mangi Meli in Germany and bring it back to his homeland.

Mangi Meli was hanged by German colonialists in 1900 and his head shipped to Germany for racial research. From Berlin, Mboro begins a decades-long and so far unsuccessful search through a network of ethnological collections and institutions.
