In the near future, the earth's surface has become uninhabitable.

The remaining humanity has crawled away and taken refuge in a virtual reality. Much to the delight of the cockroaches, who have built a new civilization in the spiritual absence of humans and are working flat out on a moon rocket to leave the destroyed earth and explore the universe. When a human must be moved to make room for the spaceport, he suddenly awakens from his virtual dream.
