First one in the bag! This week the first on-site workshop of the European Showrunner Training wrapped. The workshop was led by Head of Programme Jeppe Gjervig Gram (»Borgen«, »Follow the Money«) and German showrunner Marianne Wendt (»Wer wir sind«, »Neumatt/New Heights«). ifs CEO Nadja Radojeciv gave an opening introduction to the history of showrunning, followed by keynotes by Jeppe Gjervig Gram and Marianne Wendt who spoke about the Danish showrunning model and showrunning in Europe.
All 13 participants shared personal work experiences and eagerly discussed the current situation on showrunning in their respective countries. Guest speakers included the Italian showrunner Barbara Petronio (»Uonderbois/Wonderboys«, »Suburra«), who provided an insight into her way into showrunning. The Cologne-based showrunners Philipp Käßbohrer and Matthias Murmann (»How to Sell Drugs Online (Fast)« provided participants with detailed insights into their individual showrunning model and the genesis of their new Disney Plus Series »Pauline«. As part of the workshop’s conclusion, Nadja Radojevic presented tasks, powers and core competencies of showrunning in Europe.
