As a Portuguese scriptwriter, João Matos has been writing and creating fictional content for audiovisual since 2001. He has written and created telenovelas, series, TV films, and feature films for Portuguese broadcasters RTP, SIC, TVI, and internationally for Shanghai Media Group (China) and TV Zimbo (Angola). He wrote feature films for distributors Cinemundo and NOS, and series for streamers Prime Video and OPTO. He worked as a head writer in several writers’ rooms, as a script doctor, script editor and as content coordinator for entertainment, leading creative and content production teams. He has a master’s degree in Communication, Culture and IT, and he holds a PhD in Digital Media, both with academic research in the creation and production of fictional content for streaming and the change in public perception of stories and their consumption. He has run his own production company since 2023.
