Tarja Kylmä graduated from ELO film school Finland in 2006 with a thesis on character development. Previously, she made a career in Veterinary medicine, incl. a PhD in the genetics of vision. Her works as a series writer include the Prix Europa 2019 winner »Invisible Heroes«, a Finnish-Chilean co-production based on true events during the 1973 coup d’état in Chile, written with Chilean Manuela Infante. For »Cargo« (2021), created by Matti Kinnunen and nominated for Nordisk Film & TV Fond prize for outstanding writing for Nordic drama series, she was part of the writing team. For ITV Finland she created (together with Paula Mononen) an 8-part drama series on a Nordic emergency Medical team arriving at an earthquake site in Pakistan (currently in production).
