The European Showrunner Training at the ifs Internationale Filmschule Köln is a six-month, part-time training and mentoring programme for aspiring showrunners. It is designed for experienced series writers from across Europe and beyond, providing essential knowledge and skills required for showrunning. Head of Programme is renowned Danish writer and showrunner Jeppe Gjervig Gram (»Borgen«, »Follow the Money«). Alums of the programme include Lisa Ambjörn (»Young Royals«, Sweden), Nadine Gottmann (»The Signal«, Germany), Sanne Nuyens (»Hotel Beau Sejour«, Belgium), Pedro Lopes (»Glória«, Portugal), and Thara Popoola (»Sex Education«, UK).
The fifth edition of the training will start at the end of May 2026. The application deadline is 30 March.  An online info event on 25 February offers the opportunity to ask questions about the content, requirements, and application process. The training is part of the European Showrunner Programme, which is funded by the Creative Europe MEDIA Programme of the European Union. The FOCAL Foundation is a cooperation partner.

Apply now! After four successful years, the "European Showrunner Training" at ifs Internationale Filmschule Köln is entering its 5th round. The unique 6-month training and mentoring programme for experienced series writers imparts key insights and skills required for the showrunner role.
