Podcast series
Vision statement:
The Gap is a non-fiction podcast series which explores the differences and the similarities between men and women. It follows my own thought process on feminism, toxic masculinities, gender roles and male and female energies.
Techniques like ASMR (Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response) triggers and binaural audio will be used in order to create a relaxation state, so that we can all truly listen to each other. This series aims to spark a genuine conversation around these sensitive topics.
Synopsis:
In the podcast series The Gap, Chloé Trieu, the host, decides to go on a personal quest into the gap, which she describes as an in-between men and women, a place of disconnection and misunderstandings. On this journey, she meets Johan, a forty-year-old Danish man who reflects upon his privileges, his masculinity and its potential toxicity. In this first episode, the host analyzes her relationship to femininity and the gender roles she tends to perform. Together, they talk about Grayson Perry’s book „The Descent of Man“, and reflect on what kind of man would make the world a better place.
The second episode starts with a discussion on female energy with Christine Li. She is the co-author of „The Path of the Empress“, a book which explains the different phases of a woman’s life via traditional Chinese medicine theories. In a second part, the conversation drifts to trauma and self-healing, while Christine Li and Chloé decide to record an acupuncture treatment to heal men and women from shame.
Finally, the binary view of the gap is questioned as the host meets Nevan, who was born female and is now a man. In this last episode, Nevan goes through his Facebook posts, as an online diary, recalling his transition and his struggles as a transman. He concludes the podcast series by speaking to his young self and delivers a powerful positive and gender-neutral message for anyone on an identity quest.
