Haydar Taştan (1993, Istanbul) is a filmmaker and documentary photographer. He received his BA in Journalism from Istanbul University. The relationship between him and visual arts started as a documentary photographer. His photography works were published in many publications such as The New York Times, Los Angeles Review of Books, Der Spiegel, De Telegraaf, 74th Edition of Berlinale, The Hollywood Reporter, Amnesty Journal. He has been part of photo exhibitions in Istanbul, Yerevan and Berlin. His photo book Dark Harmonies was printed in 2017.

In time, he became more interested in moving image. His first short film Cengiz (2020), which won the Best Director Award at the Baku International Film Festival, took part in various international and national film festivals such as Antalya and Istanbul Film Festivals and received awards.  His last short film Ruzname (2024) will have its premiere in the 20th International 25 Fps Ex-perimental Film and Video Festival Competition Program in Zagreb, Croatia. His works have transitions between experimental cinema, documentary film, photography and visual arts. He's looking for this MA Digital Narratives to craft visual narratives that emphasize fluidity and incorporate interdisciplinary, experimental and critical analyses.
