Synopsis
Upper middle class housewife Aylin Friedman, who lives in the fictional picture-perfect town of Scheinhaven, can't accept the death of her teenage son that has been ruled a suicide. As a journalism graduate, Aylin uses her investigative skills to look into her son's death with the help of her outcast tech-savvy teenage daughter Leah. The two of them stumble upon a nefarious online game on the dark web called Lazarus that seems responsible for a series of mysterious deaths in the region. Aylin's husband believes she is delusional for not accepting their son's suicide and he has her committed to a mental hospital. Meanwhile, Leah gets drawn into the game. Initially she wants to find out what happened to her brother. However, she gains an appetite for the thrill of the game that involves completing creepy or dangerous tasks for internet fame and money. Leah helps Aylin escape from the hospital and they track down the game's inventor and mastermind. They uncover his villainous intentions to target social media influencers and put social Darwinism into practice. With the help of a young, recently promoted detective, Aylin and Leah bring the mastermind to justice. However, this might be futile as the game has spread and become a global phenomenon.
