Through Diya’s Eyes is a narrative virtual reality experience about Diya, a 25-year-old woman with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). The user enters Diya’s perspective at a party as she waits for her friend to arrive. What begins as a familiar social environment gradually transforms into an inner world shaped by sensory overwhelm, emotional intensity, and isolation.
As the party becomes louder and denser, Diya’s perception of space begins to shift. Sounds, visual metaphors, and spatial changes convey how the environment feels when processing becomes difficult. The experience moves from social overstimulation into a more abstract emotional space, before guiding the user toward moments of grounding and relief.
The project offers a glimpse into one lived experience of ADHD, focusing on how an ordinary social setting can become overwhelming from within. Instead of presenting ADHD as a universal experience, Through Diya’s Eyes follows Diya’s specific perspective and invites the user to encounter her world through metaphorical expressions of ADHD.
