A young Belarusian woman flees war, determined to reunite with her girlfriend in Germany. Country-hopping, she helps fellow runaways navigate their relationships with humor and resilience.
SYNOPSIS
Rita (28), a free-spirited Belarusian with an unshakable (and, let’s be real, occasionally delusional) belief in love, and Sonya (27), her practical, routine-bound Russian girlfriend, get an unwanted crash course in long-distance relationships—brought to you by war, bureaucracy, and identity crises.
When the war breaks out, Rita takes to the streets in protest while Sonya grabs her company-sponsored escape to Germany. Rita vows to reunite – because love conquers all… unless it’s up against visa laws and collapsing borders.
Rita embarks on a messy journey through Belarus, Georgia, Spain, Denmark, Poland, Serbia, and Germany – armed with a suitcase and an alarming level of optimism. Each episode unpacks a different war-fractured relationship: romantic, platonic, or just survival-based. These stories, and the people she meets, reshape how Rita sees connection – and herself.
She helps others flee, clings to hope, and begins to realize she may not just be chasing Sonya but avoiding her own reflection. Eventually, she changes her mind: choosing education, a future, and, for once, herself.
Can love survive a war? Maybe. But only if both people change. And change – well, that’s the hard part.
