European Showrunner Think Tank with Matthew Hastings & Tyron Ricketts

Yesterday the exciting Think Tank »Social Impact Storytelling & Showrunning« with renowned filmmakers Matthew Hastings (»The Handmaid's Tale«, »Smilla’s Sense of Snow«, »Fallen«, USA/UK) and Tyron Ricketts (»Sam – A Saxon«, Austria), moderated by filmmaker Fitore Muzaqi, took place at the Filmforum NRW in front of an interested audience. Matthew Hastings and Tyron Ricketts talked about their experiences as showrunners on set, their personal motivations for becoming a producer and the important influence writers can have on socially relevant issues in storytelling.
“Do you believe that storytelling can change the world?" was Fitore Muzaqi's final question. Both filmmakers said yes agreed and emphasized that good storytelling can change influence the world in a positive way, because the audience can e.g. find themselves in stories, find hope and comfort, escape reality. At the end, they encouraged all the filmmakers in the audience to believe in their good stories and to fight for them. Thank you for the valuable insights and for the interesting questions from the audience!

Many thanks to Network Movie for the support!
